About Us

The Confucius Institute is a cooperative project between North Carolina State University (NC State), the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Han Ban) and Nanjing Normal University (NNU) in China. Click to see Confucius Institute Brochure.

CI Mission: To enhance intercultural understanding in the US by sponsoring programs in Chinese language and culture. We promote this mission through a range of educational and outreach activities.

The CI at NC State was established in 2007 and was the first in the Southeast of the United States. As of July 2010, there were 316 Confucius Institutes and 337 Confucius Classrooms in 94 countries and regions. For more information, please visit the Confucius Institute Headquarters page.

Each CI has their own unique qualities that best reflect their goals in the community. From our experience our biggest influences are:

1) Teaching and promoting Chinese language and culture

2) Training Teachers

3) Establishing Confucius Classrooms
