Application deadline for Spring 2014 Undergraduate Conditional Admission through the IEP is November 1, 2013.

Length of the IEP Program:

Students who enter the IEP with advanced proficiency may complete the program in one or two semesters. For those who require more time to strengthen their language skills, the IEP will allow students to repeat each level one time only.
    • 15 weeks per semester (fall and spring semesters)
    • 23 - 25 hours per week (Monday through Friday)
    • Optional summer session

IEP Attendance Policy

The majority of Intensive English Program students have clear academic goals and want to move into undergraduate degree programs at NC State. This requires dedication and hard work – and coming to class is an essential part of their success in the IEP program.

IEP students are issued an F-1 student visa for study at NC State University. As F-1 students, attendance is mandatory and monitored. The IEP attendance policy currently stands as follows: students who miss more than 25 total hours in one semester will need to repeat all classes in the following semester. Allowance is made for legitimate and documented absences such as extended illness, family emergencies, etc. Students who accumulate 50 or more hours of absences in one semester will be dismissed from the Intensive English Program.

Grading Policy

IEP students must reach a high level of English proficiency to be successful in undergraduate classes. Therefore, IEP policy states that students must pass each and every class with a grade of B (83%) or higher to move to the next level or exit the program.
