NC State's India Program

Dr. Viney Aneja, India Program Coordinator

The vision of the Office of International Affairs is to be a strong force in enhancing the University’s accomplishments as a Research/Teaching/Public Service institution whose students make meaningful progress towards becoming global citizens, who think globally while acting locally. As part of this vision North Carolina State University is embarking on engagements in India.  Over the last years NC State has developed a number of collaborations and partnerships in India. These include student exchanges, summer research programs, faculty research collaboration, and educational training programs. Further enhancement and continuity of such programs will necessitate clearly defined goals and strategies at the University level. This document is an effort in that direction.

There are a number of reasons why interest in India at NC State is evolving and enhancing. India, world’s largest democracy and ninth largest economy is becoming a more critical actor on the world stage, economically, socially, and politically. North Carolina, during the recent decades, has witnessed a great influx of people of Indian origin to the Triangle region and the rest of the state. A strategic academic plan for India is a win-win for the University of North Carolina in general, and NC State in particular, as it will offer opportunities in research, teaching, and student mobility.  To learn more about the NC State-India Initiative, read our Strategic Plan.
